Gospel For A New Century - Yves Tumor

Yves Tumor sets their intentions for their new album with this powerful and innovative opening track. This song is very strong in its own right but gets its power from its title. It is introducing us to the new century, a new era of music. The lyrics are dark and angsty, touching on heartbreak, but they could really be talking about any of the future traumas of the new century. This is the music we will be listening to through relationship troubles, through economic hardship, through the climate apocalypse. 

The horns make it sound like we could be on a medieval quest to find the holy grail or could be in space discovering the next galaxy.  These cinematic horns create this space where it sounds like we are discovering something new and exciting, but then the muffled rock instrumentation and sad, imperfect vocals lead us to find that it's just more of the same suffering of the past. It's exactly the journey that we're going on right now in 2020. We're hopeful that a new year will bring something different, but nothing will change, and the hardships will keep coming.
